Søren Hansen, born in Copenhagen 21 March 1974, won the 1997 Danish Amateur Stroke Play Championship and turned professional later that year.

In 1998, he won the Challenge Tour’s Navision Open Golf Championship. The following year he became a member of the European Tour, garnering two tournament victories since. He took the 2002 Murphy’s Irish Open in a play-off against Niclas Fasth, Darren Fichardt and Richard Bland. Five years later he snatched the lead from British Lee Westwood to win the Mercedes-Benz Championship in Cologne, Germany.

Søren Hansen has represented Denmark in the World Cup a total of four times, in 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2007. In 2007, he represented the Continental Europe team in the Seve Trophy.

As of October 2007, Søren Hansen ranked seventh in the European Order of Merit. In November, he ranked 47th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Søren Hansen lives in Monte Carlo with his wife and son.
